A mobile home park in Tampa, FL uses a retention pond to hold and release stormwater. The release is controlled, slowly draining downstream as the pond fills. Unfortunately, ongoing heavy rainfall caused retention pond overflow and flooding, leaving residents trapped in their homes, with water halfway up their vehicles in the driveway. Our client called us in for rapid response and emergency flood drainage, and we responded immediately. After a quick pond inspection, we found the pump had failed and quickly created a storm drainage plan. We brought in an 8-inch silent pack diesel pump that moves 240,000 gallons of water per hour and relocated the water downstream. We cleared the flooding by early evening, getting residents back into the community safely, and created a plan to replace the failed pump and tie it back into the existing system to prevent future flooding.
